The Stark Varg EX is the world’s most capable electric motocross bike. Jack Brunell won the 2024 British Arenacross Championship on a Stark Varg — the first electric motorcycle to win a UK racing championship.
Important: The Stark Varg EX is designed for off-road and closed-course use only. It is not road-legal in standard UK configuration.

A Closer Look at the Stark Varg EX
The Varg EX’s liquid-cooled permanent magnet motor is the detail that separates it from most electric dirt bikes on the market: air-cooled motors lose power as they heat up over a long moto, while liquid cooling holds output steady lap after lap. Paired with WP 48mm USD forks and Brembo brakes — the same calibre of componentry used across KTM’s and Husqvarna’s factory-level off-road range — the Varg EX is set up as a genuine race machine rather than a road bike adapted for trails.
That combination is exactly what took Jack Brunell to the 2024 British Arenacross Championship: the first UK racing title won outright on an electric motorcycle, against a field of petrol-powered bikes. The aluminium frame with carbon fibre components keeps weight down without giving up the stiffness a competitive motocross chassis needs under hard braking and landings.
Who Rides the Varg EX, and Where
The Varg EX is built for off-road and closed-course use only — private land, motocross tracks, and arenacross-style competition with the landowner’s or venue’s permission. It suits experienced off-road and motocross riders, club racers stepping up from a petrol bike, and anyone riding noise-sensitive venues where a near-silent electric motor is an advantage. It is not road-legal in standard UK configuration and should never be ridden on public roads, pavements or bridleways open to other traffic.
Setup & Care
Without an air filter, oil changes or an exhaust to service, day-to-day running costs are lower than an equivalent petrol motocross bike, but the parts that do wear still need attention: check WP fork oil and seals to the service intervals in the owner’s manual, bed in and inspect the Brembo pads and discs after the first few sessions, and keep an eye on the liquid-cooling level before hard use. Charge the battery fully before first use and follow the manufacturer’s guidance on storage charge level if the bike will sit for more than a few weeks. When washing the bike, keep water away from electrical connectors and the battery compartment seals.
