The Yamaha YDX-Moro Pro is a full-power trail eMTB built around Yamaha’s own PW-X2 mid-drive motor, delivering up to 80 Nm of torque and supporting a cadence as high as 170 rpm. The 500Wh in-frame battery sits inside Yamaha’s distinctive Dual Twin aluminium frame, which splits to cradle both the rear shock and the pack for a low, central centre of gravity and confident handling.

Suspension comes from a RockShox Yari RC Boost fork with 160mm travel and a Super Deluxe Select+ shock giving 150mm at the rear, riding on a 27.5+ wheelset shod with grippy Maxxis High Roller II 2.8in tyres. Shifting is handled by a Shimano XT 11-speed drivetrain, while Magura MT30 four-piston brakes on 203mm rotors haul it all to a stop.

  • PW-X2 motor with AUTOMATIC mode and five assist levels
  • 500Wh battery with self-diagnosis and charge-life display
  • Magura MT30 four-piston brakes, 203mm rotors
  • 27.5+ plus-size traction on Maxxis High Roller II tyres

Note: As specified (20 mph assist, 500W peak) this is an off-road eMTB and is not a UK road-legal 250W/15.5mph EAPC; intended for trail and off-road use.

A Closer Look at the Yamaha YDX-Moro Pro

Yamaha’s PW-X2 motor uses a quad-sensor system that reads cadence, torque, speed and crank angle to deliver power that follows technical trail riding far more naturally than a simpler single-sensor motor — up to 80Nm of torque and cadence support to 170rpm, useful when you’re spinning up a technical climb rather than grinding a low cadence. The 500Wh battery sits inside Yamaha’s distinctive Dual Twin aluminium frame, which splits to cradle both the rear shock and the battery pack for a lower, more central centre of gravity than a conventional downtube-battery layout.

Suspension is genuinely trail-spec: a RockShox Yari RC Boost fork with 160mm of travel up front and a Super Deluxe Select+ shock giving 150mm at the rear, riding on 27.5+ wheels with grippy 2.8in Maxxis High Roller II tyres for extra traction and cushioning. Shimano XT 11-speed gearing and Magura MT30 four-piston brakes with 203mm rotors complete a spec sheet built for descending as confidently as it climbs.

Who Rides the YDX-Moro Pro, and Where

As specified — 20mph assist and 500W peak power — this is an off-road eMTB and is not a UK road-legal 250W/15.5mph EAPC; it’s intended for trail and off-road use, not public roads. It suits confident trail riders who want maximum assistance on technical climbs and descents, and who have off-road trail access (bridleways, byways, or private/permitted land) to ride it on legally.

Setup & Care

Both the RockShox Yari fork and Super Deluxe Select+ shock need an annual service to keep damping consistent — more often if you’re riding year-round in UK trail conditions. The in-frame 500Wh battery has a self-diagnosis function and charge-life display; check it periodically rather than waiting for a full-discharge scare mid-ride. Shimano XT’s 11-46T cassette and Magura’s four-piston brakes are trail-durable but still benefit from a post-ride wipe-down after muddy sessions.
