The Tongsheng TSDZ2 is the benchmark torque-sensing mid-drive conversion kit, prized for its natural, bike-like ride feel. Unlike cheaper cadence-only systems, the TSDZ2 measures how hard you pedal and delivers proportional assistance through the bottom bracket, so power flows smoothly with your effort rather than switching on and off. This 36V 250W version is supplied with pedal-assist only (no hand throttle), making it road-legal in the UK (EAPC) for use on public roads and cycle paths by riders aged 14 and over, with no licence, tax or insurance required. The kit fits most standard threaded 68-73mm bottom bracket frames and includes the motor unit, VLCD5 display, PAS, brake cut-off levers and wiring loom. A genuine Tongsheng unit (open-source firmware compatible) with central weight distribution for balanced handling.
