Warranty & Guarantees

Sold by Power On Bikes Limited, trading as VOLTARC, registered in England & Wales (Company No. 15944114). Registered office: Unit 9b Ash Park Business Centre, Tadley, RG26 5FL.

This page explains your statutory consumer rights, how manufacturer warranties work when you buy from VOLTARC, and some honest, e-bike-specific realities — particularly around batteries and off-road machines — that we think you should know before you buy.

Your statutory rights (Consumer Rights Act 2015)

Every order from VOLTARC is protected by your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, regardless of anything a manufacturer warranty does or doesn’t cover. These rights are free, automatic, and cannot be reduced by any term of sale.

  • Short-term right to reject (first 30 days): if goods are faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose within the first 30 days of delivery, you can reject them for a full refund.
  • Six-month presumption: if a fault appears within six months of delivery, it is presumed to have been present at the time of purchase, and the burden is on us to prove otherwise before we can refuse a repair, replacement or refund.
  • Up to six years (five in Scotland): beyond six months, you may still have a claim for up to six years from delivery in England and Wales (five years in Scotland, under the Prescription and Limitation (Scotland) Act 1973). This is a long-stop time limit for bringing a claim — not a guarantee that goods will last that long — and you would need to show the fault existed at the time of supply.

Nothing on this page, or anywhere else on this site, limits or replaces these statutory rights.

How manufacturer warranties work at VOLTARC

VOLTARC is a specialist retailer, not the manufacturer, for every brand we sell. Warranty cover on top of your statutory rights is provided by the manufacturer (or, for Sur-Ron and Talaria, the official UK importer) — VOLTARC handles the claim on your behalf so you only have to deal with us, not a manufacturer directly.

Warranty length and terms vary by brand, model and component — frames, motors, batteries and electronics are typically covered for different periods. The specific terms for the item you’re looking at are listed on that product’s own Warranty & Support tab, with the general policy also summarised on our Delivery & Returns page. If you’re unsure what applies to a specific order, email us and we’ll confirm the exact terms for that item.

As standard, manufacturer warranties do not cover fair wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse, or unauthorised modification — including derestricting, tuning or otherwise altering a motor or controller beyond its supplied specification, which also risks the vehicle’s road-legal (EAPC) status. See our Electric Bike Law UK guide for more on this.

E-bike & e-MTB batteries: a consumable wear item

Lithium batteries in e-bikes, off-road machines and conversion kits are, like all rechargeable batteries, consumable parts. Capacity gradually reduces with every charge cycle — this is normal, expected wear, not a defect in itself. How quickly a battery degrades depends on factors like charge habits, storage temperature, and how deeply it’s discharged before recharging.

To help a battery last as long as possible: avoid storing it fully flat or fully charged for long periods, keep it somewhere cool and dry, and use the charger supplied with (or specified for) that battery. Where a specific capacity-retention guarantee applies to a product, it will be stated on that product’s own Warranty & Support tab — we don’t apply a single blanket figure across every battery we sell, because packs vary by brand and cell chemistry.

A battery that no longer holds a useful charge after genuine manufacturing failure (rather than ordinary cycle wear) is a warranty matter — contact us and we’ll assess it with the manufacturer.

Off-road machines: Sur-Ron, Talaria & competition use

Sur-Ron and Talaria machines are sold strictly for use on private land or a closed circuit with the landowner’s permission — they are not road-legal in the UK. Full details are on our Electric Bike Law UK page.

As with virtually every off-road and motocross machine on the market, manufacturer warranty cover on these bikes is intended for private recreational and closed-circuit leisure riding. Use in organised competition, racing events, jumps, or conditions that go beyond normal off-road riding can affect what a manufacturer will cover under warranty — this is standard practice across the off-road motorcycle industry, not something specific to any one brand we stock. If you plan to enter organised competition and want to know exactly where you stand, email us with the model and we’ll check the current position with the importer before you ride.

What isn’t covered

Not covered by manufacturer warranty
Fair wear and tear (tyres, brake pads, chains, bushings, battery cycle degradation)
Accidental damage, crash damage, or damage from incorrect assembly
Misuse, neglect, or use outside the manufacturer’s intended purpose
Unauthorised modification, tuning, or derestriction of the motor or controller
Corrosion or damage from improper storage or exposure to water beyond the product’s rating

None of the above affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where a genuine manufacturing fault is involved.

How to make a claim

Email hello@voltarc.co.uk with your order number, a description of the issue, and photos or video where the fault is visible. We aim to respond within one business day and will handle the warranty conversation with the manufacturer or importer on your behalf. For return-related queries (rather than a warranty fault), see our Delivery & Returns page.
