The Bosch Performance Line Cargo motor’s 85Nm of torque is specified for exactly this job: pulling away smoothly with a fully-loaded rear deck, whether that’s two children, a week’s shopping, or both. The frame-integrated battery — 500Wh on the standard Spicy Curry, 625Wh on the Spicy Curry+ — is removable for charging indoors, and because assistance cuts out at 25km/h with no throttle, the whole system stays inside UK EAPC rules despite the load it’s designed to carry.
The 26in front / 20in rear wheel combination is a deliberate cargo-bike choice: it keeps the load deck low, which lowers the centre of gravity and makes the bike feel more planted than a standard-wheel bike would with the same weight aboard. Setup & Care
The 9-speed drivetrain needs standard chain and cassette maintenance, more frequent when riding loaded regularly. Charge the removable Bosch battery per Bosch’s own guidance, and check tyre pressures often — a loaded longtail is more sensitive to under-inflation than an unloaded standard bike. Magura’s four-piston brakes should be bedded in gradually over the first few loaded rides rather than tested hard from new.
